No strings attached from lobbyists or party bosses.
Iman is a typical working man and local Tucsonian who is a proud graduate of the University of Arizona. Since completing his degree in public health, he has earned a living in all sorts of ways from working in a behavior health clinic, to substitute teaching, to basic retail in addition to gig work such as Uber, Lyft, and DoorDash. These days he lives in the Amphi neighborhood and works for a nonprofit organization that champions progressive causes. He does not himself have health care nor is he a homeowner; he knows the struggle well because he lives the struggle.
Having no ties to big money or to the political elite, he is a true anti-establishment candidate. He believes both parties have failed the American people and that both parties have been co-opted by corporate interests. Having the understanding that all governments, institutions, and organizations are fully reliant and ultimately dependent upon the people who work for them, his slogan is “People Power, not Political Power.”
He genuinely believes that when people stand up and make their demands known, there is nothing that can stop them. It is the common man and woman that powers this country and the world, and it is the common men and women who hold all the cards and have all the power in society; governments and corporations only seem powerful when people lose sight of this fact and stop believing in themselves.
It is Iman's mission to remind the masses in Southern Arizona and across the country that we, the people, have all the power, and that as long as we fight together, we will win together and bring forth a day where any and everyone who is contributing to society lives a comfortable and dignified life.
This campaign and movement is about bringing forth the day where no one is unable to access the healthcare they need, where everyone receives all the higher education and training they need to contribute their full potential to society, and where everyone who wants to own a home has the opportunity to do so.
We need to change the legal definition of health care so that all health insurance plans automatically include dental, vision, and hearing.
We need to allow anyone and everyone to buy into Medicare. We need to establish vocational programs in every high school so that every young person graduates job ready and with real world skills and we need to establish a nationwide online-based university so that anyone seeking to continue their education can do so without going into debt. And last but not least, we need to start financing debt with installment fees and not interest so that the have-nots are not in perpetual servitude to the haves. If we do these things, the promise of the American dream will be truer and closer to the masses of men, women, and children than it has ever been.
Our ultimate dream for this country is that for any man to be able to work for 15 years and own his own piece of land and his own home, and with 30 hours a week of work, be able to give his family a dignified quality of life. This —and so, so much more—will be easily attainable for us once we achieve true unity and indeed, we will achieve true unity once we begin to love one another as we love ourselves and desire for one another the good things we desire for ourselves.
After all the noise and chaos of the last few years, it is time to at last bring America home to her highest ideals, where we believe in the equality of all men, where human dignity and freedom is sacred, and where return to being a beacon of light and hope to the world as the original land of opportunity.
